#2 Easton (4-1) at #3 Queen Anne's (5-0)-6pm-This is a huge game for both teams but especially the Lions as their schedule ramps up quite a bit beginning Friday night. This will also be their final home game of the season. Easton and QA each have played three of the same teams with both having won all three. But Easton has won those games more handily and had the lead in them the entire time. Easton also has a win over now #1 Kent Island. Queen Anne's is the lone undefeated team in the Bayside and has some quality 2A wins but both coming from behind at home. This game however could definitely go either way. The Warriors boast one of the best QBs in the Conference and the Lions one of the best RBs in the Conference. The Easton defensive line has played very well on the whole this year as the Lions O-Line have had 4 different combinations this season. The hope for the Lions is that they finish out the year with the same combination beginning tonight. This game could be a shootout or defensive battle but I have to lean on it being more towards a shootout than the latter. I think the Warriors as a whole have a more complete offense and have the ability to score more points in a shootout. I also think O'Connor makes more of an impact for the Warriors offense than Wright does for the Lions offense. The Warriors defense has shown that they can stop good run teams although this will be a very tough task tonight. The Lions at home will be fired up and can certainly deliver a W. But I have to give the nod to the Warriors based on the aforementioned factors and the history against like opponents so far this season. I am hoping for our best game yet this season ...This is our Overtime Live-Preston Ford "Friday Night Lights Game of the Week" on 94-3 WINX-FM, forevermidshore.com and the Forever Radio App
#4 Stephen Decatur (4-1) hosting #6 North Caroline (2-3)-6pm-This will be the third straight game that Decatur's defense has faced a run-heavy offense or offense capable of running the ball well albeit with different styles but that has to help DC Todd Appel and his players settle into this game. Caroline will have to face another dual threat QB this week on the defensive side which will make the task tougher. The Seahawks coming off an emotional win against Wicomico made enough plays offensively especially in the 2nd half last week against Parkside in a short week but OC Russell Croteau will look for a sharper game. Caroline last week had some tough circumstances to overcome and were unable to do so. I expect a bounce back week and something tells me that the Bulldogs will have one of their best games of the season. That said the Seahawks on homecoming are plenty battle tested (as is Caroline) and have won a few different ways this season. I feel their offense has more fire power and cohesion at the moment that can make the difference.
#1 Kent Island (4-1) at #7 Parkside (2-3)-6pm-The Bucs are the hottest team in the Bayside having won 4 straight including a big win at home last week against then #1 Wicomico. The Bucs are trying to spread the ball around and be multiple and versatile but their offense still is very much predicated on running the football with Kasey Heath who has been a monster this season. The defense is settling in which is scary. The Rams are dealing with the gauntlet that is being a 2A East team in the Bayside. Their defense hung in giving the offense enough of a chance to make it a game last week against Decatur but ultimately wore down and gave up 28 points. The offense which started hot has stalled. Until the Rams offense finds themself again and someone can show they can stop Kasey Heath I have to go with the Bucs.
#5 Wicomico (3-2) at #8 Cambridge (3-2)-6pm-The Indians come in having lost two in a row to Stephen Decatur and Kent Island. You would certainly expect in a season with high expectations and at one point being the #1 team that they will be fired up and ready to go for this one. The Vikings still haven't played their best ball yet but have defeated the teams they are supposed to. Their two losses were to teams who simply were too much for them from a personel standpoint. That will be the case here again. The Indians have too much size, speed and athleticism for the Vikings and should come away with the win.
#9 Colonel Richardson (3-2) at #12 Kent County (0-5)-6:30pm-The Colonels have been strong in their 1A games this season thanks to a strong offense which has helped the defense. The offense has been getting contributions from the older and younger players. The Trojans are winless but played a close game at home last week against Cambridge, just the 2nd 1A team they have played this season which makes them battle tested but nonetheless 0-2 against 1A teams. Their young players have enough games under their belts that they should be starting to feel comfortable playing at this level. They can make this a game and give themself a chance to win. Even though they are on the road the Colonels have been building momentum winning 3 in a row after starting 0-2. Colonel should be able to go into Worton and get a win especially if they get off to a good start.
#11 Snow Hill (1-4) at #13 Washington (0-4)-7pm- A 1A matchup for both teams. It's been a tough season for both the Eagles and the Jags. The Eagles though have a win under their belts and have scored 94 points, the Jags have scored none. Until Washington can show they can score and give themself a chance to win I will go with Snow Hill even though they are on the road.
#10 James M. Bennett (0-5) at Southern-AA (2-4)-7pm-This is a non-conference game for Bennett. The Clippers have yet to win a game this year as they rebuild with their 3rd coach in the last 4 years. There is still a long way to go for Bennett even though they certainly have shown signs at times of improving. Last year the Clippers almost got their first win in over a year against this Bulldog team but lost by one point at home on a Saturday. Until the Clippers can get over the hump I am going with Southern-AA who has two wins and has played tough in two of their four losses to some good teams.
Last Week: 6-1
Season: 34-5
