Week 6 Capsule: We had the battle of #1 versus #2 a big 2A matchup between Stephen Decatur and Kent Island and #1 Stephen Decatur won decisively. They are not the only undefeated 2A school however as North Caroline also shares an undefeated 6-0 record and those two do battle this Friday in Berlin. We also had a huge 1A matchup between two time defending Bayside 1A (Small School) Champ Colonel Richardson who hosted Snow Hill who was off to their best start in 16 years. Colonel came out a big winner and won the 1A Small School Championship for a third straight year. Cambridge-SD, who lost to Colonel by a point on the road a few weeks ago got their second win over a 2A school in Wicomico.
…You can make a strong case for Cambridge-SD to be tied with Colonel despite the head-to-head but I strongly dislike ties so I won’t do it, but I am as close as you can get without doing it. Despite Kent Island’s loss I still believe they are the second-best team right now. However North Caroline will get the chance to prove me wrong on Friday night.

Bayside Conference Football Week #6
Power Poll/Game/Team Notes
1. Stephen Decatur (6-0)-The Seahawks defeated Kent Island on the road for the first time overall since 2008, 33-15. QB Brycen Coleman went 14-20-249-3TD passes, 1 Interception. Athlete Careen Bolden hauled in two TD passes, one of 65 and one of 46 yards. The first TD was almost all his running after the catch. The other TD pass from Coleman went to Gavin Solito, a 16 yarder to make it 23-12. The Seahawks got out to a 17-0 lead early before Kent Island battled back to make it a 17-12 contest at the half. It was 23-15 at the end of three quarters when Decatur would add ten points to their lead and go on to win comfortably. K Brogan Eastlack hit two FGs (21 and 35 yds), the first was the first score of the game. The SD offense was able to take advantage of good field position at times in the game. The defense got key early stops which helped allow the Hawks to get out to an early lead. While they did give up back-to-back scores in KI’s 3rd and 4th offensive series, they kept the Bucs out of the end zone the rest of the way. The one score though came on good field position given to the KI offense after a fake punt failed and turned the ball over on downs…Next Game: Friday vs. North Caroline-6pm
2. Kent Island (5-1)-The Buccaneers had their 14-game regular season winning streak broken losing at home to Stephen Decatur 33-15. Down 17-0 early on the Bucs did battle back with a Shane Bogardus 2yd TD run (2pt failed) and a QB Gavan Henry to TE Tucker Claxton 9 yd TD pass (2pt was no good). However, the Bucs could only muster a K Spencer Chapell 25-yard FG in the second half. The strong defense facing a tough task had a tough time stopping the Decatur offense most of the game…Next Game: Saturday vs. James M. Bennett-1pm
3. North Caroline (6-0)-The Bulldogs defeated James M. Bennett 57-20 on homecoming. This game was a 21-13 score at the half in favor of Caroline before they pulled away in the second half. 4. Queen Anne’s (3-3)-The Lions defeated 1A Kent County on the road 56-12. Backup QB Lance Arnold got the start in place of starter Devin Wright who was out nursing a rib injury. Arnold went 11-17 for 244 yards and a TD. The Lions as a team ran for 201 yards and 5 TDs. Freshman Jadareon Thompson had a KO Return for a TD and a receiving TD. Coach Brian Mooney said the DEs rushed well and the secondary got tested with some substitute players having to fill in as others were out sick. They did give up two TDs on the back end due to two busted coverages and had a few dropped would be INTs but kept the Trojans offense down enough…Next Game: Friday at Easton-6:30pm
5. Colonel Richardson (3-3)-The Colonels defeated Snow Hill at home 55-28 in a big 1A battle and clinched the 1A Bayside Small School Championship. The Colonels controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game…Next Game: Friday at Nandua (VA)-6pm
6. Cambridge-SD (4-2)-The Vikings defeated Wicomico 28-14, their second win over a 2A team this season. QB Blake LaBelle had another big week this time throwing three TD passes, one each to Anthony Hughes, Darren Belzaire and Antonio Blueford. Kayion Marine had a KO return for a TD. It was a physical game and C-SD had rough going as expected in trying to run the ball against WiHi’s front but clearly took advantage of their skill in the air. After giving up two TDs in the first half to the Indians, the defense shut them out the rest of the way…Next Game: Friday at Snow Hill-6pm
7. James M. Bennett (2-4)-The Clippers fell to North Caroline on the road 57-20. The game was 21-13 at the half. HC Greg Lasinski said his team “played like Jekyll and Hyde.” “Everything we did right in the first half we did wrong in the second half.” …Next Game: Saturday at Kent Island-1pm
8. Wicomico (1-5)-The Indians fell to Cambridge-SD on the road 28-14, their fourth straight loss. This was the most points the defense had given up since a Week 1 loss to Linganore 40-0. It was the most points scored by the offense since a Week 3 loss in OT to Queen Anne’s. Both scores were in the first half...Next Game: Thursday at Parkside-6pm
9. Parkside (2-4)-The Rams got a much-needed win defeating Easton on homecoming 14-9 on Friday...Next Game: Thursday vs. Wicomico-6pm
10. Easton (1-5)-The Warriors fell on the road to Parkside on Friday 14-9. Despite the loss HC Matt Griffith said the offensive moved the ball well between the twenties. 13. Washington (0-5)-The Jags fell on homecoming to Arcadia (VA) 23-8. The Jags scored for the first time all season and it was the first score of the game on a TD pass from Braden Corbin to Develle Morgan. All the scoring in this one took place in the first half. Two of Arcadia’s TDs were in the air where there was good coverage but the technique on the ball needed to be a little better. Arcadia possessed the ball a lot in the second half limiting the Jags offensive opportunities. Washington did move the ball between the twenties in this one. There were more incremental signs of improvement from the Jags in this one. HC Alec Meintzer said the team has mostly (but not entirely) abandoned the triple option and gone with mostly a gap scheme approach on offense. He also said the inconsistency in the passing game has been a challenge for the offense this season…Next Game: Friday vs. Kent County-6pm
